Settling into Summer
We’re more than halfway through Leo season and life is gradually being brought down to a simmer. The expansive escape of summer has become a sweltering trap by now, and we’re feeling ready to finally get free of it. Or maybe I’m just speaking for myself here.
The next two weeks seem to offer a little more relief from the polarizing heat. Mercury and Venus are both in their home signs of Virgo and Libra respectively. This means our communication and relationship matters receive plenty of assistance, and possibly even some blessings. The planets are working on our side in that regard.
There’s a good deal of supportive energy in the stars for the next few weeks. Perfect for setting projects in motion and finding the energy to get things done. Or at least getting clear on the process that will take you where you’re trying to go.

Sunday, August 15th
Mercury in Virgo squares the north node in Gemini and the south node in Sagittarius. There’s a sense of clearing an obstacle that’s in your way or finding an alternate route around it. Today can feel immensely constructive. A conversation might open up doors to a new experience, or you might find yourself stepping through a mental portal of sorts.
Monday, August 16th
Venus enters Libra. Relationships are about to get a whole lot lovelier. Venus finds herself at home in the sign of Libra, which gives us all more reasons to lean into love, romance, and become more conscientious of relational reciprocity.
Wednesday, August 18th
Mercury in Virgo conjoins Mars in Virgo. This aspect can spell a heated argument or debate around seemingly minor details. Or it can bring energy to get through a slew of important tasks. If you’ve been itching for a day to catch up on a backlog of projects or assignments, today is the day. Notice what comes up to irritate you today.
Thursday, August 19th
Sun in Leo opposes retrograde Jupiter in Aquarius, and Uranus stations retrograde. As Uranus slows down, we might be caught off guard by some surprising news or turn of events. As the Sun finishes up its stay in Leo, we get a hard look at how our self-expression gets in the way of seeing the bigger picture around us. Or how our concern for the big picture puts a damper on our capacity to express ourselves authentically and seek joy and pleasure. This is a day for reflecting on the ways we try to fit into a mold prescribed to us by the society at large, and at what expense that comes.
Friday, August 20th
Mercury in Virgo trines retrograde Uranus in Taurus. Today might bring some surprising news, but most likely the good kind of surprising. Perhaps things suddenly seem to click together regarding a particular situation that you were previously confused or concerned about. Answers come through more easily than usual today.
Sunday August 22nd
Venus in Libra trines the north node in Gemini, Mars in Virgo trines retrograde Uranus in Taurus, and the Sun enters Virgo. The day might move quickly and harmoniously. Your encounters with others might feel particularly easeful today, and your actions are likely to come through effectively. Things are likely to get accomplished more quickly than you thought they would today. It’s also a full (and blue!) moon in Aquarius. Something in your life is likely coming to a climax of sorts.
Monday, August 23rd
Venus in Libra trines retrograde Saturn in Aquarius. Setting boundaries in relationship feels necessary but also relatively easeful today. Saying “no” to someone holds special power, especially when you say it with kindness and not with anger or accusation.
Tuesday, August 24th
Mercury in Virgo opposes retrograde Neptune in Pisces. Conversations are subject to some confusion today. Be sure to communicate what you mean clearly because idealistic expectations are likely to come through. There’s a tendency today to speak in broad strokes, so notice if you pick up on things sounding too good to be true.
Thursday, August 26th
Venus in Libra opposes retrograde Chiron in Aries and Mercury in Virgo trines retrograde Pluto in Capricorn. Encounters with others might feel triggering today, but they come with an opportunity to surface what’s at the root of the discomfort. If anything, getting clear and communicating where we are in our healing process can be incredibly soothing to any relationship tension—today and everyday. Conflict is often a portal to deeper intimacy, and today’s conversations are likely to reflect this.
