Happy Lunar New Year!

So January didn’t feel quite like the go-getting beginning we may have hoped to start the year off with, but February is sure to bring the power-packed initiatory energy we’ve been craving. January was actually kind of rough, no? There were tons of retrograde kerfuffles, so much snow and iciness, and lots of internal wrestling with the ways we construct our relational paradigms and how we make sense of reality as we move through chapter after chapter of change.

Venus having just stationed direct in Capricorn after her 40-day retrograde, and Mercury following suit just a few days later brings some BDE (Big Direct Energy) to the beginning of the month. All of the planets will officially be moving direct from now through April, beckoning us to link our momentum with theirs.

This brings major relief to the parts of our lives that have felt like they’ve been on back-order or stuck to get moving. January was full of delays, and February now arrives with an abundance of green lights.

Another interesting point to note is that Mars is in Capricorn for the entire month, gifting us with true exalted Martian energy. Mars in Capricorn finds no task too daunting, and no peak insurmountable to scale. We’ll be able to leverage action and conserve our energy when needed. It will be a month full of successfully finishing projects and getting a move on with what’s been stalling.

Mars will also join Venus mid-February for a spicy conjunction that will last well through March as the two waltz hand in hand through the end of Capricorn, into Aquarius, and eventually into Pisces together. This slow-burning dance will ignite deep-seated passion in our hearts and infuse our veins with the potent fuel of lustful desire. In other words, this conjunction will signal a powerful period of going after what we want, and doing everything in our power to ensure we get it.

Tuesday, February 1st

We have a new moon in Aquarius that squares Uranus and conjoins Saturn. This is a day for committing to future visions that come through with a high-voltage shock. It’s a moon for clearing out the emotional residue that keeps you from trusting your authentic voice and mission, because it feels weird or different from those around you. It’s a moon for leaning into the responsibility that comes with understanding and managing your energy. Detach from what truly isn’t personal to clarify your internal reality and make space for what’s to come.

Thursday, February 4th

Mercury stations direct in Capricorn. Today can feel a little mentally foggy and groggy as Mercury grinds to a halt as it stations direct. Take note of what words or conversations feel more pronounced. Mercury will now pass through its retro-shade for the next few weeks so expect certain topics that came up in January to be re-visited once more.

Friday, February 4th

Mars in Capricorn sextiles Jupiter in Pisces and the Sun conjoins Saturn in Aquarius. A day for potential excitement and high energy, as well as clearly seeing necessary boundaries and delineations that inevitably exist. The day is sprinkled with the euphoric hope that anything is possible if you just believe.

Tuesday, February 8th

Mars in Capricorn trines Uranus in Taurus. Today can feel a little zany and erratic but in a fun way. There might be a more innovative and liberating way to get the task done, with no f’s given. Embrace the strange sources of inspiration that fuel your actions today. You might find yourself moving through the day a lot quicker than usual.

Friday, February 11th

Mercury in Capricorn conjoins Pluto in Capricorn. Today conversations and thoughts can feel charged and on the verge of intensity. Conflict may escalate, or tensions may feel more pronounced than usual in what is spoken or thought. The key is to bring awareness to the parts of your subconscious (or shadow) that wants to insert the worst-case scenario into your head. Power dynamics are always present, but what matters is what you make of them.

Saturday, February 12th

Mercury in Capricorn trines the north node in Taurus. We’re pushed to get a little loud with our thoughts, possibly make some definitive statements, and have potentially formative conversations. You might notice a strong desire to speak what’s on your mind and have your perspective heard. Others around you may have an emphatic way of speaking today.

Monday, February 14th

Mercury (now direct) re-enters Aquarius. In Aquarius, Mercury is back to help us resolve some of January’s misfirings and miscommunications. Here, Mercury will have us discerning matters from a zoomed-out perspective. Distinguishing our thoughts from collective thought patterns and currents. The next few weeks are an invitation to consider what has changed since early January about what and how you actually think.

There’s really no getting around it folks. This coming Mars and Venus conjunction will have us sizzling and simmering here real soon.

After such a cold, dry, and unforgiving January (which felt like 2 years tbh), relief is finally on its way. The energy will pick up significantly in the first week of February, and we’ll likely find ourselves smooth sailing well into March.

Remember, a lot of this month is about picking things back up that were on hold since January, or restructuring them entirely. Look to which houses in your chart are contained by the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius to get a sense of where the biggest changes are taking place.

As much as I try to keep these forecasts relevant, it’s likely you may not experience these transits in the same way I write about them. This is because you have your own chart that’s being uniquely aspected all of the time.
